Life in the Pandemic on Film

April 2023 Gallery Show | Neighborhood Plant Dealer - Vallejo, CA

Produced by Ericka Cruz Gueverra

This collection of film photographs taken during the pandemic reflects Abigail’s relationship with people and places, according to time and light. Throughout a season of interconnected challenges, there also were glimmers of new beginnings. We revived interests from our past and reconfigured social dynamics to smaller, more intimate settings. Being at-home allowed for internal reflection, while also inviting more appreciation for being outside. Abigail purchases her film from Mike’s Camera and gets them developed at Underdog Film Labs.

“To take a photograph is to participate in another person’s mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time’s relentless melt.” Sontag, 1973
